Usman vs. Edwards 2

Leon Edwards has shocked the MMA world. With a head kick in the final round of a fight he was handily losing, Edwards knocked out Usman to win the UFC welterweight title in the main event of UFC 278 on Saturday night here at Vivint Arena.

Round 1:

Edwards lands a few leg kicks, then defends a takedown attempt. He then slips on an attack, and Usman gets him to the canvas. But Edwards gets up, and with two minutes to go, he scores a trip takedown into full mount.

A charging takedown feint from Perrin draws a smile from both fighters. a moment later, a nice leg kick lands for Aoriqileng, but Perrin keeps moving forward as he shoots for a takedown

Perrin looks for a kick to the body, sparking an exchange of hard punches in the center of the cage. They clinch, with Perrin pressing Aoriqileng against the cage. They break apart again and get back to striking in the center of the octagon

A couple of strikes land before they exit. Back in the center and they both open up their offense. Punches are traded and Perrin goes for a spinning backfist. A nice front kick to the body pushes Aoriqileng back.

Usman keeps stalking, and Edwards is not threatening. The challenger needs to do something big, and he has nothing for Usman, who is cruising. Edwards lands a couple of shots, but one is low

The 37-year-old returned on Saturday from a three-year layoff, and essentially announced his retirement in the Octagon after. Although he didn't actually say he was done, he was extremely emotional, removed his gloves inside the cage and nodded in affirmation when UFC commentator Joe Rogan mentioned the possibility of it being his last figh
